Congress’s ‘Bharat Jodo’ campaign has given BJP another reason to take on Rahul Gandhi. The BJP today pulled up the Congress leader over a video, which is now viral on social media, which captures a conversation between a priest – George Ponnia and Rahul Gandhi – in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. In the video, the pastor is seen calling Jesus the ‘only real God’.
Several BJP leaders, including party spokesperson Shahzad Poonawalla, shared the clip where the priest is seen answering Rahul Gandhi’s questions about who Jesus was. The pastor says, “Jesus is the real God who manifests himself in human form unlike other powers or powers.”

Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh, while responding to the allegations leveled by the BJP, said, “This is a completely fake video. All this is only propaganda of BJP. We are traveling India couple. BJP is busy dividing while Congress is united. BJP negates India’s diversity while Congress unites India.
Pastor George Ponnaiah is a member of Jannayaga Kristava Pervai, a Tamil Nadu-based NGO based in Kanyakumari and often known for his controversial rhetoric. He is no stranger to controversies and came into limelight after one of his controversial speeches against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi After which more than 30 complaints were filed against him in parts of Tamil Nadu. The pastor was forced to issue a public apology for using inflammatory language.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched the ‘Bharat Jodi Yatra’ – a nationwide padyatra that will cover a distance of about 3,570 km in 150 days spread across 12 states. The yatra began at Kanyakumari on Wednesday.
