Panaji: A little over a week after potholes on roads Taleigao The pits reopened on Wednesday, which was repaired using a new jet-patcher machine acquired by the PWD. Testing of the jet-patcher machine began in the presence of Talegao Public Works Department Minister Nilesh Kabrala and local legislators Jennifer Monserrate,
The jet-patcher machine is being tried out for quick repair of potholes during monsoons, when roads cannot be repaired and permanent repair of potholes is not possible due to rain.
One machine in each is being used on trial basis North and South Goa,
But on Wednesday, it appeared that the recent machine repairs in Talegao could not stop in the rain.
“Apart from the roads being dug for laying sewerage or gas pipelines or repairing power lines, individuals are also digging roads without informing the department for various repairs. Due to this, potholes have become more and the maintenance of roads has become difficult. No officer can keep a watch on the roads round the clock. If excavation is done, the concerned government department or person should inform us so that proper repairs can be done,” said a PWD official.
The state had plans to purchase more jet-patcher machines if the test was successful.
