Jhulan, who batted last in international cricket, got ‘Guard of Honour’

Legendary cricketer Jhulan Goswami played his last match at the Lord’s ground in England on Saturday. Goswami received a guard of honor from England players as she came out to bat for one last time in international cricket during the third ODI against England at Lord’s ground on Saturday.

Jhulan, playing her final ODI at Lord’s, came out to bat at number nine after a normal batting performance for India. However, he received a heartfelt gesture on the field from England players as he made his way into international cricket for one final time.

India batted first. The Indian team quickly reduced their top-order wickets to 29/4, before Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma restored the innings. However, India continued to lose wickets at quick breaks after the partnership broke down and it did not take much time for Jhulan to bat.

Anil Agarwal, Chairman, Vedanta Resources Ltd, also lauded Goswami and wished him well ahead of his match.

The India legend, who is playing her 204th ODI, unfortunately, went for a gold medal in her final innings but walked out to the guard of honor from the players.

Incidentally, Jhulan was last dismissed for a golden duck in the 2017 ICC Women’s Cricket ODI World Cup final against England at the same venue.

After six years, however, in the final series of his career, Goswami had the honor of being in the Indian team that defeated England in an ODI series in England for the first time in 23 years.

Fellow cricketers Reema Malhotra, Mayank Agarwal, Suresh Raina also paid tribute to the great pacer.

The official handle of England Cricket on Twitter also praised the great fast bowler and said, “He has bowled almost 10,000 balls in ODI cricket, and he has probably inspired many young girls to play cricket.”

Cab to be named after a hammock at Eden Gardens

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) is planning to name a stand at the Eden Gardens after India’s legendary pacer Jhulan Goswami in honor of his outstanding services to the game.

The 39-year-old Jhulan, who hails from Chakdaha town in West Bengal’s Nadia district, ended her two-decade illustrious career with the third and final ODI against England at Lord’s on Saturday.

“We are planning to name a stand at the Eden Gardens after Jhulan Goswami. He is a special cricketer and deserves to be with the legends. We will approach the Army for necessary permissions. We will visit him on the annual We are also planning a special honor day,” said CAB president Avishek Dalmiya.

“At CAB we give equal importance to women’s cricket and that’s why we see many talented cricketers. They are definitely inspired by Jhulan’s achievements. Though she has retired from international cricket, we see her in the women’s IPL,” she said. would love to play.”

The highest wicket-taker in women’s cricket, Jhulan, affectionately known as the ‘Chakdah Express’, bid adieu to international cricket with over 350 wickets, a feat never achieved by any bowler.
