Jhunjhunwala name appears in latest shareholding pattern of this PSU bank

Public sector Canara Bank on Thursday released its shareholding pattern for the September 2021 quarter featuring Indian stalwart investors and stock market traders. Rakesh JhunjhunwalaThe name came up in PSUs during the quarter.

Jhunjhunwala, known as the ‘Big Bull’, held 1.60% stake or 2,90,97,400 shares in Canara Bank during the July-September period, according to Canara Bank shareholding data on BSE. He had no stake in the PSU in the June quarter.

The data further showed that Life Insurance of India (LIC) increased its stake in PSUs to 8.83% in the September quarter, from 8.11% in the previous quarter. Additionally, mutual funds (MFs) also raised stake in the bank to 3.70% from 3.10% as of June 2021.

Canara Bank shares were trading 0.4% higher 175 per share on BSE in Thursday afternoon deals. The stock of PSU Bank is up around 31% this year (Year-to-date or YTD) as compared to a rise of nearly 25% in the benchmark index BSE Sensex. Canara Bank shares have gained 95% in the last one year.

Jhunjhunwala has made investments in the name of both himself and his wife Rekha Jhunjhunwala. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and manages the asset firm Rare Enterprises. He favors stocks in the finance, tech, retail and pharma sectors, to name a few. Rakesh Jhunjhunwala & Associates has 38 publicly held shares with a net worth of more than Rs. 23,700 crores as per Trendline.
