Leh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal inaugurated Jio mobile tower at Demchok and dedicated 4G services to border villages, army, ITBA and commuters.

Billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio has become the first operator to bring mobile connectivity to Demchok in eastern Ladakh with the launch of its 4G voice and data services in a border village.

Leh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal inaugurated Jio mobile tower at Demchok and dedicated 4G services to border villages, army, ITBA and commuters.

After inaugurating the mobile tower in the border village Chushul, he said, “It will definitely strengthen the border security as well as the rural economy of the border villages.”

Tweeting about the incident, he said he dedicated “4G internet to villagers, military and tourists traveling to Pangong-Chushul-Tsaga via Rizang La.”

Situated at an altitude of more than 13,000 feet above sea level, Demchok serves as the final landmark on the Indian border with China to facilitate communication for troops stationed at high altitudes and local residents.

Apart from Demchok, 4G services were also inaugurated in the border villages of Chushul, Nyoma Tharuk and Durbuk in Ladakh.

In Ladakh, the Jio network is connected through 3 fiber routes, Leh-Srinagar, Leh-Manali (Himachal Pradesh) and Leh-Gurez, to create redundancy. The Leh-Gurez route is expected to go live soon. The Leh-Manali route is on Raman amplifier technology which has been used for the first time for fiber connectivity on the ground.

Posting a video of the snowy terrain of the region, he tweeted, “Travelling along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) borders in Eastern Ladakh for the last 3 days, driving on a snow-covered road from Chushul to Leh Amazing landscape.” enjoying it.”

“Inaugurated 5 @ Reliancejio Mobile Towers with 4G internet at Demchok, Nyoma, Chushul, Tharuk and Durbuk. Jai Hind.”

He also thanked the officials of Jio for timely execution of the prestigious project on the border.

The launch of Jio 4G services in Demchok is a boon for the community and tourism industry of the Union Territory. The introduction of telecommunication services is expected to bring a significant change in the lives of border residents in the areas of health and education.

4G services are not only going to impact the social status of the residents but will also prove to be a turning point in the economic development of the region as it will facilitate generating earning opportunities for the local youth and businessmen.

Various remote villages of the block like Zanskar, Sanku, Taifsuru, Shargol, Nubra, Khalsi, Kharu, Dras, Panamik have already been covered by Jio network and the company is in the process of expanding Jio network coverage to many more remote villages. is in. of Ladakh.

According to sources close to the company, so far 168 Jio Towers are operational in the Ladakh region.

Jio is to set up 62 towers under USOF, of which 44 are already functional. These towers can be installed in a window of 6-7 months available for construction in a year due to harsh weather and rough terrain.

Jio is the only private network operator to provide services in the Zanskar region and Siachen base camps and provides fiber media connectivity along the existing Kashmir-Leh route via Gurez and Manali.

On the Leh-Manali route, it is working on Raman amplifier technology, which has been used for the first time for fiber connectivity on the ground (to extend the fiber stretch without power amplification – 242 km).

In case of fiber cut on a single route, it has 2 more protections, he said, adding that in case of two simultaneous fiber cuts it is still one route up and running.

Compared to other telecom operators, the chances of network blackouts are less in Jio network due to strong fiber connectivity.

The firm is providing end to end connectivity despite extremely difficult conditions in terms of low oxygen level, sub-zero temperatures and minimal communication along the route.

“While passing through the frozen roads of Khardungla, several team members had to be oxygenated as the material and implementation team movement had to continue,” he said.

In addition, a large number of sites have been specially deployed to provide mobile connectivity to military personnel in a geographically remote location where earlier satellite phones were the only option to connect with their families.
