J&K: Mega tree plantation drive carried out along LoC in Baramulla. News – Times of India Videos

The Indian Army conducted a massive plantation drive on the Somwali, Choti and Gaggar hills along the Line of Control in Boniyar village of Baramulla district in North Kashmir. It was organized in collaboration with the Forest Department. It aims to make the people of border villages realize the importance of trees, its conservation and protection. School students and teachers were also made aware of the dire need of planting saplings. Plantation is important as it is linked to our basic need of good food to eat and clean air to breathe. They are also responsible for preserving biodiversity, conserving water, conserving soil and controlling the climate, among other things. People appreciated this initiative and looked forward to running this campaign at their level in future also.
