“J&K, Northeast May Not Need Security Force CRPF Soon”: Amit Shah

Amit Shah appreciates efforts of local administration in J&K

new Delhi:

Praising the country’s largest paramilitary force, the Central Reserve Police Force or CRPF, Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said the need for the force in Jammu and Kashmir and the Northeast will no longer be there in a few years.

“With the resolve with which CRPF is working in Kashmir, Naxal areas and Northeast, I am confident that in the next few years, in all the three areas, we will not need the use of CRPF and maintain complete peace in the three areas. I Sure. And if it happens, all credit goes to CRPF,” Mr Shah said at the 83rd Raising Day Parade of CRPF at Maulana Azad Stadium in Srinagar today.

This is the first time that the parade has been organized outside the CRPF headquarters in Delhi.

The home minister said the biggest task in Jammu and Kashmir is that the central forces have taken “decisive control” over the fight against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.

He also welcomed the efforts of the local administration against corruption and taking the developmental activities to new heights in the Union Territory.

The abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019 led to inclusive development of all sections of the society including the underprivileged, Mr Shah said. He said that democracy has been successfully taken up to the village level.

The Article granting special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir was revoked by the Center on August 5, 2019, and the state was bifurcated into the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
