During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed bilateral relations, besides exchanging views on how to enhance cooperation in the areas of high-technology and innovation. Modi and Bennett met for the first time on Monday after brief talks on the sidelines of the climate summit.
Earlier, recalling their brief meeting on Monday, Prime Minister Modi said that the people of India attach great importance to their friendship with Israel.
The Prime Minister’s Office tweeted, “Growing friendship with Israel. PM @narendramodi and @naftalibennett had a fruitful meeting in Glasgow. The two leaders discussed deepening various avenues of cooperation for the benefit of our citizens.”
The meeting between Modi and Bennett comes after Modi extended an invitation to the Israeli Prime Minister to India during Jaishankar’s visit to Israel last month.
According to Israeli media reports, Bennett, who became Prime Minister in June this year, is likely to visit India next year.
India and Israel elevated their bilateral ties to a Strategic Partnership during Prime Minister Modi’s historic visit to Israel in July 2017.
Since then, relations between the two countries have focused on expanding knowledge-based partnerships, including collaboration in innovation and research, including promoting the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
