Joshimath Snow: The sinking city of Uttarakhand received its first snowfall of the season on Friday, January 20. According to sources, the snowfall started around 4 am and the weather is expected to remain like this for the next 24 hours.

Cracks in damaged houses will not be widened

According to a senior official, crack meters installed in Joshimath’s damaged houses have not widened cracks in the last three days, but water discharge from an underground channel near Jaypee Colony has again increased to 150 liters per minute.

Earlier on Thursday, Uttarakhand minister Satpal Maharaj had said that an inquiry would be conducted to find out how multi-storey buildings were allowed to be built in Joshimath, which have been sinking for at least 20 years.

CM Dhami held a review meeting

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a meeting with senior officials to review the relief work being done in Joshimath and said that there would be no shortage of funds for disaster management measures to be taken up in the town.
