Journey of Bollywood Designer Masks from Kerala

Kozhikode-based designer and civil engineer Niha Salma is on top of the moon. The masks from his label, Fittish Essentials, have traveled all the way to Bollywood. Among the clients are actors Sara Ali Khan, Taapsee Pannu and Shraddha Kapoor.

“When the pandemic hit, masks became a necessity. That’s when I launched Fitish Essentials [a branch of her online label Fitish], a line of fabric masks featuring nature-inspired designs such as butterflies, rainbows, and sunflowers.

“The three-layered and soft pure cotton masks come with hand embroidery and lace work. My emphasis is on keeping them swell with pleasing colors. Now that the mask has become a part of our ensemble, I felt it should complement the individual,” says Neeha.

Once she started posting her collection on her Instagram page (@fitishentials), several e-commerce sites got in touch with her. 6 of them were degrees, which took their masks to celebrities.

“Sara photographed my mask twice, Taapsee posted a picture wearing it during her trip to Maldives! Shraddha has promoted it on her handle,” says the 27-year-old.

Neeha launched Fitish in 2018, when she started receiving requests to make clothes for friends and family. Fittish also carries linen and cotton casual wear in addition to custom-made wedding and party dresses.

Among the masks in her collection are masks for mother-son and mother-daughter duos. The price of the mask starts from ₹199. View Design on www.fitishentials.com
