JSW Steel, JSPL, BALCO among bidders for 11 coal mines

JSW Steel, JSPL and BALCO are among the major companies that put in their bids for the coal mines

JSW Steel, Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) and Bharat Aluminum Company Limited (BALCO) were among the major companies that bid for 11 coal mines on Wednesday.

Altogether 21 units placed their bids in the latest auction of coal mines. A total of 26 bids have been received for auction of coal mines under the fourth phase of coal sale, the Coal Ministry said in a statement.

Of the 11 coal mines put up for auction, five received single bids.

Gare Palma IV/6 mine in Chhattisgarh received maximum eight bids.

The mine was originally allotted to JSPL and Malwa Sponge Iron Limited jointly in January 2006 to meet the coal requirement of their respective sponge iron plants in adjoining Raigad and Teraimal districts. However, the allotment, along with others, was annulled by the Supreme Court in 2014.

Utkal B1 and B2 mines in Odisha received six bids, while Chinora in Maharashtra received four and Jharkhand’s Rabodih OCP received three bids.

“The process for the fourth tranche of auction of coal mines for sale of coal was initiated on December 16, 2021. The last date for submission of technical bids was February 28, 2022,” the statement said. Wednesday.

It said a total of 26 bids have been received against 11 coal mines.

“Two or more bids have been received for five coal mines. JSW Steel, JSPL, Shyaman Metallics & Energy Limited, Mahanadi Mines & Minerals Private Limited and Sarada Mines Private Limited have bid for two each, while Balco, BS Ispat, Saradha Energy and Minerals Ltd and Rungta Sons Pvt Ltd are among the firms that have made a single bid.
