“Julian was feeling unwell last week but started feeling sick on Friday,” Stella Assange was quoted as saying by press association News agency.
“He started coughing and had fever. He was given some paracetamol. He tested positive for Covid on Saturday.”

The Australian national, now 51, has been in a high-security prison since 2019, after serving time off for not granting bail in a previous case.

His lawyers said he had a history of illness at the time, including a respiratory infection.
Stella Assange, who married Assange In March in Belmarsh and the mother of their two young sons, she said she was concerned for his health.
“The next few days will be crucial for his general health. He is now in his cell 24 hours a day,” he said.
Assange was released on bail in 2010 and sought asylum at the Ecuadorian embassy in 2010 after he was extradited to Sweden in a sexual assault case.
The case was dropped in 2019 and he lost his asylum status after a change of government in Quito, leading to his arrest and imprisonment.
In August, Assange’s attorneys launched legal action against the CIA for allegedly concealing private conversations with him at the mission.
He is appealing against Britain’s approval for extradition to stand trial for uncovering US military secrets about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
