Just Discipline, Chandigarh Girl said on PM Modi’s question that why is it so serious

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday interacted with the winners of the Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award (PMRBP) through video conferencing. Interacting openly with the young achievers, the Prime Minister spoke to the children about their dreams and future goals. Out of all the conversations, PM Modi’s conversation with Tarushi Gaur of Chandigarh caught everyone’s attention. Tarushi, the youngest girl to win Degree One Black Belt and Degree II Black Belt in Taekwondo, impressed the PM with her scathing replies on the importance of sports and studies.

When asked to comment on the subject, Tarushi said that both work and play are important for children to help make India proud. After this she said that she considers Olympian Mary Kom as her idol. Noting that the boxer “absorbed” the work-life balance, the young achiever said Mary Kom is an equally good icon, mother and wife, reports The Tribune.

Tarushi’s simple but to-the-point reply prompted PM Modi to ask if she always talks about serious things. “Sir, I don’t talk about serious things. I want to make India proud and that’s why I like to be disciplined,” Tarushi replied to the PM’s question.

Impressed by Tarushi’s responses, the PM nodded with a smile. The minister also talked about his government’s programs for development of sports and other infrastructure in the country while interacting with other achievers.

Stating that children have shown “modern and scientific temper” by participating in the COVID-19 vaccination programme, PM Modi said that since the vaccination program was launched on January 3, more than 40 million adolescents have enjoyed it.

Addressing the awardees, the PM said that the awards have become all the more important as they are being presented during the momentous celebrations of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to mark 75 years of India.
