K-pop star IU donates 200 million won to charity to celebrate 14th first anniversary

Singer IU has donated 200 million won to charity on its 14th first anniversary.

Singer and actress IU also celebrated its anniversary with her ‘The Golden Hour’ concert in Seoul, which was attended by BTS member Jungkook.

South Korean singer and actress IU recently celebrated its first anniversary of 14 years by donating 200 million won (Rs 1,14,69,672) to charity. According to her agency EDAM Entertainment, the singer used the name ‘IUena’ to donate 100 million won to Asan Social Welfare Foundation and 100 million won to Seoul – a combination of her name and the name of her fan club ‘Ueena’ . Donations from the Asan Social Welfare Foundation will be used to support cancer treatment for women and children struggling with financial difficulties, while donations from the Seoul Metropolitan Child Welfare Association will help young people preparing for financial independence.

“With Uena, who has given me wonders both big and small for the past 15 years, I am again sharing this year with a heart full of gratitude. […] I hope our hearts come together to bring another small miracle to someone else,” IU commented in a statement. “The amount of time I’ve been able to spend with Uena over the past 15 years was my ‘golden time’ “Thank you, and I love you so much.”

IU also hosted a two-day solo concert called The Golden Hour at the Olympic Stadium in Seoul to mark its first anniversary. It was his first in-person concert in three years.

BTS member Jungkook is known to be a fan of South Korean idol. The Golden Mecca of Bangtan has often expressed his admiration for the singer and he was recently spotted at her concert, proving that he is the ultimate fan. On the first day of their concert, September 17, fans spotted Jungkook in the crowd and quickly took to social media to share pictures of the same.
