Fitness enthusiast Puneet Rajkumar dies of heart attack

Kannada cinema’s “power star” and celebrity television host Puneeth Rajkumar is also setting an example in death. The actor, who died of a massive heart attack, donated his eyes like his father – legendary south actor Dr Rajkumar – who himself pledged his entire family’s eyes in 1994. Dr Rajkumar also died of a heart attack on 12 April 2006. 76.

Actor Chetan Kumar Ahimsa tweeted, “A team of doctors carried out the procedure within six hours of his death.

The actor tweeted, “While I was in the hospital to see Appu sir, a medical group came in the 6 hour window after his death to have his eyes removed. Appu sir – like Dr Rajkumar and @NimmaShivanna – had his eyes removed Donate,” the actor urged everyone to donate. “Following in his footsteps and in memory of Appu Sir”.

Fitness enthusiast Puneet Rajkumar was rushed to Vikram Hospital in Bengaluru after he complained of chest pain after a two-hour workout at the gym, doctors treated him. He died shortly after. He is survived by wife Ashwini Revanth and two daughters Dhriti and Vandita.

Shocked fans thronged the hospital premises as news of the sudden death of the actor, who fast-tracked his father’s shadow to carve a niche for himself in the Kannada showbiz industry, broke out on the hospital premises.

Political leaders mourning the actor’s death, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his colleagues in the southern film industry as well as in Bollywood – his messages echoed those of his fans who are grieving the hero. Those who were gone too soon.

Bereaved fans thronged the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru to pay their last respects to his idol on Friday evening. A state government order said the actor’s last rites would be performed at Kanteerava Studio where his parents Dr Rajkumar and Parvathamma were cremated.

The last rites will be performed on Sunday, as the family awaits the arrival of their daughter, who lives abroad.
