Karnataka Assembly Election Results 2023: BJP’s Jole Sasikala wins from Nippani

BJP’s Jole Shashikala Annasaheb has won Nippani constituency by defeating Nationalist Congress Party’s Uttam Raosaheb Patil by a margin of over 7,000 votes. Sasikala secured a total of 73,348 votes and claimed 39.14 per cent vote share from the constituency as compared to 35.25 per cent share held by NCP’s Patil.

As per the 2008 Delimitation Commission report, Nippani assembly constituency has an estimated Scheduled Caste population of 15.31 percent and an estimated Scheduled Tribe population of 1 percent. The district in which this constituency falls has an estimated literacy level of 73.48. Percentage, as per Census of India, 2011.

In the 2023 Karnataka Assembly Elections, the constituency had a total of 2,09,099 eligible voters of which 1,06,749 were male and 1,02,346 were female and 4 registered voters belonged to the third gender. The voter sex ratio in Nippani in 2023 is 959 female voters per 1,000 male voters.

Congress has won with absolute majority in Karnataka elections.

The Congress crossed the 113-seat mark in the assembly elections, the required majority to form a government in Karnataka, the counting of votes for which took place on May 13. According to the Election Commission, the party had won 122 seats and was leading in 14. constituencies. At the same time, BJP had won 56 seats and was ahead in eight seats. JD(S) has won 18 seats and is leading in two seats.

Elections were held in the southern state on May 10 and the polling percentage was 72.68 per cent. The Congress maintained its lead since morning when the counting of votes for the assembly seats began in a closely contested election. The election was seen as a crucial test for both the parties ahead of the 2024 parliamentary elections.
