Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023: A look at the smallest margin of victory

As the counting of votes is nearing completion, it is clear that the Indian National Congress will form the government in Karnataka. With this the BJP has lost its only state in South India. The official list of winners includes some of the leaders who won the election with a margin of 105 votes.

The list includes names of leaders like Dinesh Gundu Rao, Soumya Reddy etc. who won the election by less than 105 votes. Here is the complete list of candidates who won after facing tough competition with their competitors.

Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023 won with the smallest margin

Gandhi Nagar – 105

Dinesh Gundo Rao of Indian National Congress won the Gandhi Nagar constituency by securing a total of 54118 votes. The INC minister won with a very narrow margin of 105 votes over Satpathgiri Gowda AR of BJP. He got a total of 54014 votes. Another prominent player in the constituency was V Narayanaswamy of the JDS.

Sringeri-167

In Sringeri, Indian National Congress’s TD Rajegowda is leading by 167 votes, according to Election Commission data till 5:20 pm. Till the time of writing this report, TD Rajegowda got 59030 votes. BJP’s trailing candidate DN Jivraj got a total of 58863 votes.

Malur – 248

In Malur, KY Nanjegowda of INC won the election by a very close margin of 248 votes. He got a total of 50955 votes, which was 29.4 percent of the total votes. BJP’s runner-up candidate KS Manjunathagowda got a total of 50707 votes, which is equal to 29.26 per cent.

Jaynagar – 294

Indian National Congress leader Sowmya Reddy was leading in the polls in Jayanagar constituency by 294 votes, according to Election Commission data till 5:20 pm. The leader recorded a total of 52,817 votes, which was around 50.7% of the total votes polled. BJP’s runner-up candidate CK Ramamurthy got a total of 57297 votes.

Jagalur-874

In Jagalur, B Devendrappa of the Indian National Congress won the election with a close margin of 874 votes. The winner received a total of 50,765 votes, equal to 32.4 percent. The runner-up candidate in the race was SV Ramachandra of the BJP, who secured 49,891 votes, equivalent to 31.88 percent of the total votes.

Chincholi-858

In Chincholi, BJP candidate Avinash Umesh Jadhav won the election by 858 votes over Subhash V Rathod of Congress. The winner got a total of 69,963 votes i.e. 46.66 per cent of the votes. The runner-up candidate got a total of 69105 votes i.e. 46.09 percent votes.
