Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday mocked Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s “Na Nayaki” (I am a woman leader) event in the city, saying the Congress general secretary has reached a stage where she has to declare herself as a leader. .

The Chief Minister said that since there were no women rallying behind him, Gandhi himself had to announce “Na Nayaki”, the women of Karnataka not ready to accept his call.

“Let her (Priyanka) come. Many people come to Bangalore. I don’t mind. Maybe the show is fine, but one thing I don’t understand is the title of the show Na Nayaki,” Bommai said.

He said, today people have to say Na Nayaki by putting Priyanka Gandhi’s photo. Bommai said that such a situation has come that Priyanka Gandhi has to declare herself as a woman leader.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is scheduled to attend a convention organized by the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) at the Palace Grounds here on Monday.

Assembly elections are due in Karnataka by May and both the ruling BJP and its rival Congress are keen to win the elections.

On Congress’ proposal to present a women-centric budget if voted to power in the coming elections, Bommai said the party will never get a chance for it.

“The Congress leaders know that they will not come to power, so they are giving all kinds of assurances,” he said.
