Bangalore (Karnataka):

Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Siddaramaiah demanded that Primary and Secondary Education Minister BC Nagesh be dropped from the cabinet and called him “anti-education”.

He tweeted about distribution of shoes and socks to government school children and said, “We had to wake up Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai to throw him out of his cabinet.

Anti-conscience Education Minister BC, who is going to snatch the shoes and socks of poor school children, has no humanity. Nagesh is making a mistake or two? Siddaramaiah slammed the state government saying, “First remove this anti-education person from the cabinet”.
Due to non-allocation of funds in the current year’s budget, the Education Department has abandoned the scheme of cycles, shoes and socks.

Congress leaders criticized the government’s decision. Subsequently, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai approved a proposal of Rs 132 crore for the distribution of shoes and socks to school children following the Education Minister’s statement and the Congress party’s criticism.
