Karnataka Government Cancels PSI Recruitment Exam; New dates will be announced soon

The Karnataka government has decided to cancel the results of the Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) recruitment exam following allegations of corruption. The state government has said that it will soon announce the new dates for the exam.

Karnataka Home Minister Araga Gyanendra said, “Karnataka government has canceled PSI recruitment, new exam will be conducted for PSI recruitment. Exam dates will be announced soon.”

The Crime Investigation Team (CID) has arrested BJP leader Divya Hagaragi and four others, the main accused in connection with the Sub-Inspector (PSI) recruitment examination scam.

Divya was arrested from Pune on Thursday night.

MLA and former minister Priyank Kharge had alleged that there was a scam in the PSI recruitment exam and the Karnataka Home Minister was involved in it along with the officials.

The PSI scam case pertains to irregularities in the appointment of police sub-inspectors in the state.

The matter came to the fore when a candidate was given 100% marks even though he attempted only 21 questions in the second paper. More than 54,000 candidates took the exam for 545 posts. Police sources said that preliminary investigation has revealed that till now 75 lakh to 80 lakh rupees were collected from the candidates as bribe.
