Karnataka pre-schools to open tomorrow, important guidelines to follow

Karnataka government will reopen pre-schools from November 8. More than 62,580 Anganwadis will open physical classes for about 56.50 lakh students in the age group of three to six years. The schools will function from 10 am to 12 noon for Lower Kindergarten (LKG) and Upper Kindergarten (UKG) in areas where the COVID-19 positivity rate is less than two per cent.

All Teachers and staff members will have to submit mandatory RT-PCR Negative certificate even though they have been vaccinated against both the doses of COVID-19 vaccines. People above 50 years will also have to wear mandatory headgear and apron. As per the guidelines of the Department of Public Instruction (DPI), the teaching and non-teaching staff have been briefed on how to monitor children with symptoms such as fever, cold and difficulty in breathing.

Children need to obtain a consent form from their parents to allow them to attend physical classes. Parents have been advised to send home cooked food along with drinking water to the children. He has also requested children to be taught basic etiquette of coughing and to have a handkerchief at all times.

The school will have to be sanitized at all times and the protocol of social distancing will have to be maintained. If a student shows any symptoms, he/she will be tested for COVID-19 and in case a large number of students test positive in a school, the campus will be closed as per the guidelines.

State Women and Child Welfare Minister Halappa Achar has said that all necessary steps will be taken to ensure the safety of the children. Till now, nutritious food was distributed door-to-door to save the children from malnutrition. Anganwadi is a maternal and child care development program sponsored by the government.

Karnataka reopened physical classes for classes 1 to 5 from October 25, for classes 6 to 8 from September 6 and for classes 9 to 12 from August 23. As per the SOPs provided by the government, the student has to be only 50 per cent of the capacity. permitted class, and physical distance of at least one meter will have to be followed. There should be no crowd especially at the entry and exit gates of schools.
