BENGALURU: With core doses greater than 1.3 administered over 30 days, Karnataka Set a new vaccination record for September, surpassing the 12 million dose count in August. The lowest daily vaccination was recorded on 26 September (35,453), followed by 10 September (60,203). The state administered under 1 lakh doses on two other days – 12 September (79,410) and 16 September (81,385).

He said that the supply side is not a problem now and the state is going to get another 1.3 crore doses in October, which may increase further.
“… as we near the home stretch, we are looking at a micro-scale strategy at GP (Village Panchayat) and sub-GP level (village level) to cover the groups that have been left out,” Chandra said.
As of 7 pm on Saturday, the state had given the first dose to over 3.9 crore people out of over 4.9 crore people eligible for vaccination. Of the 3.9 crore people, more than 1.7 crore were given a second dose.

As earlier reported by TOI, the state is also ramping up the infrastructure and has already hired around 2,900 additional doctors, including specialists, while another 2,000 are expected to join soon. “Since educational institutions have started functioning, we expect some cases to come up, but mechanisms are in place to isolate such cases quickly and prevent further spread,” Chandra said.
