Karnataka is seriously considering bringing a law against religious conversion, the Chief Minister said

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai today said that the Karnataka government is seriously contemplating to bring a law against conversion through force or inducement in the state.

Responding to a question, Bommai said, “Such things (conversions) are happening here and there. A few days back I had given proper instructions to the district administration not to allow any conversion by inducement or force, as it is illegal. ” Alleged incidents of conversion in Karnataka’s Kalaburagi and Bydarahalli.

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, he said, “Many such incidents are taking place, we are seriously considering the law against conversion of religion by inducement or force.”
