Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who is an ardent dog-lover, on Friday said an online software will be developed to take care of stray dogs and allow the public to adopt them.

Presenting the last budget of his government in the assembly, he said that this creates an opportunity for dog-lovers to adopt dogs by registering their names.

Pointing out that the Mudhol hound breed has been recognized as an Indian indigenous breed by the National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources (NBAGR), the Chief Minister also said that a grant of Rs five crore would be provided to develop the breed. ,

He said that a grant of Rs five crore would be provided to the Animal Welfare Board to prevent violence against animals and for the welfare of animals. The Board will start mobile veterinary clinics in Bengaluru to treat abandoned animals.
