“Lord Shiva shows his power through his ‘Gana’ and history has been created here with the blessings of Lord Vishwanath and the people of Kashi,” Modi said. With the completion of KVD, the dream of reaching KVT directly from the Ganges and feeling the wind coming from the holy river while worshiping Lord Vishwanath has come true.

“Kashi is the place where waking is life, death is a festival, truth is culture and love is tradition. This is the city from where Jagadguru Shankaracharya got inspired by the purity of Sri Dom Raja and resolved to unite the country in the thread of unity,” Modi said, citing the Puranas that as soon as one enters Kashi, all is freed from bondage.
“This is the place where Goswami Tulsidas took inspiration from Lord Shiva to create astronomical compositions like Ramcharitmanas,” Modi said. He said that the knowledge of Lord Buddha had come before the world at Sarnath.
“Saints like Kabir Das appeared in Kashi for the betterment of the society, while there was a need to unite the Sant Raidas Samaj who was born here. Kashi is the land of four Jain Tirthankaras, who are the epitome of non-violence and penance.”
