Varanasi: Reciting the shloka, ‘The best Bhuprastha’ Kashi Kshetram Cha Mam’ (In all parts of the world, Kashi is my body), pronounced by the Lord Shiva Prime Minister Narendra in ‘Kashi Khand’ Modi Said on Monday “The construction of Kashi Vishwanath The Dham would have been impossible without the blessings and wishes of Lord Vishwanath and his ‘Gana’ (people of Kashi).
Putting Kashi at the center of his 50-minute speech at the inauguration ceremony of KVD here on Monday, Modi said, “When I came to Kashi, I had more faith in the people of the city than myself. There were some who raised doubts about the people by claiming that they do not want change and progress. Those individuals had either political or personal interests. But, Kashi is Kashi, ruled by Lord Shiva, who has said in Kashi Khand that no one can come to Kashi without his wish. The Ganges changes its course to touch the feet of Lord Shiva.”
“Lord Shiva shows his power through his ‘Gana’ and history has been created here with the blessings of Lord Vishwanath and the people of Kashi,” Modi said. The area of the temple was only 3,000 square feet which has now become about 5. lakh square feet and it can accommodate 50,000-75,000 devotees in a day. With the completion of KVD, the dream of reaching KVT directly from the Ganges and feeling the wind coming from the holy river while worshiping Lord Vishwanath has come true.
He further added, “KVD is not just a grand building but it is a symbol of Sanatan culture and its spiritual soul and desire.
“Kashi is the place where waking is life, death is a festival, truth is culture and love is tradition. This is the city from where Jagadguru Shankaracharya got inspired by the purity of Sri Dom Raja and resolved to unite the country in the thread of unity,” Modi said, citing the Puranas that as soon as one enters Kashi, all is freed from bondage.
“This is the place where Goswami Tulsidas took inspiration from Lord Shiva to create astronomical compositions like Ramcharitmanas,” Modi said. He said that the knowledge of Lord Buddha had come before the world at Sarnath.
“Saints like Kabir Das appeared in Kashi for the betterment of the society, while there was a need to unite the Sant Raidas Samaj who was born here. Kashi is the land of four Jain Tirthankaras, who are the epitome of non-violence and penance.”
“From the integrity of King Harishchandra to the knowledge of Vallabhacharya Ramanandji, Caitanya Mahaprabhu, able guru Swami Vivekananda, Rani Laxmi Bai, Chandrashekhar Azad and Madan Mohan Malviya had associations with Ramdas, Modi said that Kashi has been the home of sages and masters. Talents like Bhartendu Harishchandra, Jaishankar Prasad, Munshi Premchand, Pandit Ravi Shankar and Bismillah Khan are from this great city.
