The awards serve to highlight the wealth of talent and diversity within the British film industry, with the 2021 list showcasing some of British cinema’s greatest names and its hottest new talent side-by-side.

Making his debut is Reggie Yates who directed the new film Pirates, which follows three 18-year-old friends moving from north to south London to celebrate New Year’s Eve at the turn of the millennium.

Another film, Belfast, titled Tonight, is directed by Kenneth Branagh and follows a young boy and his working-class Belfast family as they experience the turmoil of the late 1960s.

BIFA supports and celebrates the independent film community and promotes British film and talent to the public in the UK and internationally.
