KBC 13: Neena Gupta had to wear her house help clothes to get the role of ‘Badhaai Ho’

Actress Neena Gupta In the scintillating thank you episode of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 13’, she talked about wearing a house help’s salwar kameez to get a role in ‘Congratulations’. He liked the script of ‘Badhaai Ho’ from the very first reading, but never called back. However, things changed when she was called to meet the film’s director Amit Sharma at his office.

“Amit called me to his office after a week and ten days. When I got there, I asked his assistant, ‘What should I wear so that he feels I fit the character?’ I was told that this character belongs to a middle-class family so I should wear salwar kameez. I had some stylish salwar kameez but here, I had to wear normal salwar kameez,” she says.

Neena, who will be seen as a special guest, adds: “Then I had a kameez but not a salwar, the normal salwar. I was wondering what to do? I wore my home cook’s salwar then because It was a simple and simple white colored salwar. I went there (to Amit Sharma’s office) wearing my chunni and salwar kameez and I said to him, ‘Sir am I looking fine, I put on my house servant’s salwar’ Is’ he seemed quite impressed with me.”

Not only this, the actress also revealed the real reason behind not getting selected in one go. She shares: “I found out later that when everyone would sit and talk, Ayushmann Khurrana realized that I shouldn’t play the role because I don’t look like a mother. He said, ‘She’s so hot!’ She didn’t feel ‘mummy’ looking at me.

“Then someone told Amit, that I have done a short film with Jackie Shroff called ‘Khujli’ which is 15 minutes short. I had almost the same outfit in that. He saw that, then it was Ayushmann and Showed it to everyone else. That’s how I was locked in the role.”
