KCR has no concern for Dalit empowerment: Says BJP state chief

Bharatiya Janata Party state president and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay on Tuesday called on Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) of failing to fulfill his promises of making Dalits the Chief Minister of Telangana and allotting three acres of land to each of the landless Dalit families.

Mr. Sanjay alleged that he would not step out of his house and attend the birth and death anniversaries of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, alleging that all chief ministers, except KCR, participate in these public events across the country.

The BJP state president was speaking after garlanding the statue of Dr. Ambedkar on his death anniversary at Dimmadurthi village in Mamda mandal of Nirmal district on the route of his ongoing Praja Sangram Padyatra on Tuesday.

Mr. Sanjay accused Mr. Rao of not caring about the empowerment of Dalits. Why didn’t he make a Dalit the Chief Minister of Telangana. What happened to his promise of giving three acres of land to every poor Dalit family?” Mr. Sanjay alleged that Mr. Rao wanted to rewrite the Constitution of India prepared by Dr. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Constitution.

In the current BJP government at the Center led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 12 MPs belonging to the Scheduled Castes have become Union ministers, he said, adding that Ram Nath Kovind had held the prestigious office of the President of India.

He asserted that the Narendra Modi government is trying to empower Dalits by implementing several schemes including skill and entrepreneurship development programmes.

Mr. Sanjay came down heavily on Mr. Rao for his alleged absence from the meeting of Chief Ministers called by the Center in connection with the G20 meeting.

Reiterating his allegation that persons in the ruling TRS dispensation in Telangana had links with the Bengaluru drug case, he demanded that the case be reopened to expose the persons behind the drug racket.
