Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan in his policy address said that the government has proposed several important programs for the backward classes in the state.

Scheduled Caste Development

Employment Guarantee Skill Training Program has been proposed in 2022-23 with an aim to provide training to 3,000 beneficiaries. It will help the Scheduled Caste youth to develop them into scalable businesses by developing their innovative ideas and technology products, supporting them through facilities and capacity building programmes.

Empowerment Committees and Talent Centers are the new schemes proposed in the next financial year to provide financial assistance to young entrepreneurs belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes for starting new schemes.

The WINGS project is designed to provide financial assistance to SC and ST students who have been selected for training for commercial pilot license at Rajiv Gandhi Academy of Aviation Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, Mr. Khan said.

ST Development

“The government intends to prepare a development package for Edmalakudi, the only tribal gram panchayat in the state,” Mr Khan said, adding that the package includes provision of basic necessities like housing, drinking water, electricity, roads, digital connectivity .
