Amidst rising covid cases, Kerala The High Court has banned the gathering of more than 50 people in Kasaragod district for a week.

Kerala on Friday reported 41,668 new cases of Covid during the last 24 hours, which was less than the previous day. With this, the total number of cases in the state has gone up to 55,52,512.

With the third Covid wave in the southern state of Kerala, state Health Minister Veena George said today that the government has developed a strategy to categorize districts according to the number of Covid patients staying in ICUs.

The government said district DCs would decide on the level of restrictions to be imposed based on the number of people admitted to hospitals. The panel has authorized the District Disaster Management Authority to divide the districts into three groups – A, B and C.

It has been decided that working women with children below the age of two years, cancer patients and critically ill people can work from home. Institutions, businesses, malls, beaches and theme parks have been directed to ensure that there are no large gatherings and strict adherence to COVID norms.
