Kerala Schools Reopening: A week after announcing the reopening of schools, the Kerala government on Friday issued draft guidelines, allowing only two students to sit in a bench and the mid-day meal for children. Includes finish.

General Education Minister V Shivankutty said the draft guidelines would be finalized within five days after holding discussions with health and other concerned departments.

The minister said the draft guidelines include allowing only two students on a bench and eliminating mid-day meals. “Instead, mid-day meal allowance will be given to the students. Body temperature of the students will be measured regularly. No gathering will be allowed,” he said.

As per the new guidelines, offline classes as well as online classes will continue.

Shivankutty said that students with disabilities need not attend schools in the initial phase and online awareness classes will be conducted for the parents of the children.

Hand washing facilities, sanitizers and masks will be arranged in schools and classrooms will be sanitized every day. The government is likely to issue directions to schools not to allow eateries, including bakeries, to sell goods to students.

Kerala DGP Anil Kant has issued instructions to all Station House Officers (SHOs) to hold a meeting of the head of the institution and the school management under their jurisdiction to discuss the safety and health matters of the students.

The state police chief asked the SHO to ensure that the school buses are in good condition and asked the school management to complete the repair work by October 20.

Schools were closed in the state since March 2020.
