Kerala model killed in car accident was chased by “drug addict”: Police

Kerala: Two young models from Kerala were killed in a horrific car accident in October.

Thiruvananthapuram:

Police on Wednesday said a drug addict – identified as Siju – is the “main culprit” in the October 31 death of two models in a car accident in Kerala.

Both the models – 25-year-old Miss South India Ansi Kabir and 26-year-old former Miss Kerala Anjana Shajan – died on the spot, while a friend of theirs who was sitting in the front seat died six days later. The driver of the speeding car, also a friend who was drunk, is the only survivor.

Police said Siju, along with two of his friends, was present at the same hotel party as a model.

Police said that at the party, Siju approached one of the models with “wrong intention to misbehave”. Siju offered that he could arrange overnight stay of the models in the hotel.

Siju started following the women in their car after they left the hotel with their friends at night.

According to the police, seeing this, the driver of the car, Abdul Rehman, started driving the car at high speed.

Anjana Shajan’s brother Arjun said, “It was not easy, lost my sister and then saw the evidence destroyed. But now various details are coming out. I trust the police investigation so far.”

He told NDTV, “According to the police report, the incident happened due to stalking and Siju followed. So why did hotel owner Roy panic and destroy the footage? Strict action should be taken against him too…”

While a member of the model’s family is demanding a CBI probe into the case, the police is seeking extension of the accused’s custody.

Siju will be produced in court today as his three-day extension of police custody expires.
