Despite concerns about a rise in COVID-19 cases, the Kerala government is contemplating reopening schools as it decided to constitute an expert panel to study the current situation in the state and submit a report in this regard. has decided. General Education Minister V Shivankutty said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the high-level committee to monitor and guide the COVID situation to tackle the disease in the state will take a final decision on reopening the school.

“The education department is contemplating setting up an appropriate expert panel to know whether the situation is fine for reopening of schools in the state,” he told reporters here. Apart from this, the department will prepare a project report indicating which classes can be reopened in the initial phase, what facilities can be ensured for the safety of children in the event of corona virus etc.

He said both the reports would be submitted to the chief minister and the high-level COVID committee, which would take a final decision on reopening the schools. Classes for school students in the southern state have been conducted in online mode for the last two academic years following the outbreak of the pandemic.
