Kevin de Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez each scored twice as Manchester City 4-1 win over cross-town rivals Manchester United At their derby meeting in the Premier League on Sunday. Playing at the Etihad Stadium in front of their home fans, City got off to a fine start as they took the lead in the fifth minute courtesy of a De Bruyne strike. Running into the middle of United’s box, de Bruyne neatly finished a pass from the left flank to put his side ahead. It didn’t take long for United to respond. After a few half-offs that United could not take advantage of, Jadon Sancho cut from the left side during a counter-attack and swung the ball brilliantly into the back of the net to level the score.

City returned exactly six minutes later, with De Bruyne scoring again. Phil Foden saw his shot saved by David de Gea after City took advantage of a wrong pass by United’s Anthony Elanga. However, United failed to clear the ball and De Bruyne took advantage of scoring from close range.

City dominated in the second half and Riyad Mahrez scored a thunderous goal in the 68th minute with a deflection en route.

The Algerian winger then scored in the 90th minute to give City an easy 4-1 win.

Cristiano Ronaldo missed the game on Sunday as Ralph Rangnik did not name a recognized striker in his starting line-up at the Etihad.

Edinson Cavani also missed with an injury, while Marcus Rashford was left on the bench as Rangnik selected Elanga and Sancho in a makeshift attack.
