KFC Australia adds cabbage to burgers instead of lettuce; why over here

But, the very popular KFC Burger is currently facing extreme criticism in Australia. wonder why? That’s because KFC Australia has decided to replace the crunchy iceberg lettuce in burgers with cabbage. Well, this change hasn’t come as part of the brand’s experimentation with recipes. Instead, this step has been taken due to the shortage of vegetables in the country, explains the brand.

According to an AFP report, Australia has seen sporadic flooding that has destroyed many home farms containing lettuce crops. This has raised prices (of vegetable leaves) by up to 300 percent in recent months, forcing the fast-food chain to replace the kernel’s recipe in some stores in Australia.

But many internet users did not like this news. He took to Twitter to share his disapproval for the entire event. One user wrote, “KFC in Australia is removing lettuce from their burgers due to shortage, thus increasing the price.” Another person tweeted, “Looks like a sign of the apocalypse.” A third comment read, “Seriously @KFCAustralia if you can’t source lettuce for your chicken burger, why not just add coleslaw. Problem solved.”

KFC Australia showed sufficient urgency to address the issue with a statement on its website. It read, “We have hit an iceberg and are currently experiencing some salad supply chain disruptions due to the effects of the Queensland and NSW floods. This means you may see a temporary mix of lettuce and cabbage throughout KFC restaurants.” NSW, VIC, QLD, ACT and TAS during these shortages. The fast-food chain apologized to its patrons, saying, “Sorry for any inconvenience, we appreciate all of you being Little James as we work to get things back to normal ASAP.”
