Khalistan flags outside assembly: Himachal Police to approach Interpol for red corner notice against Pannu

Cracking down on Khalistani terror groups, Himachal Police is approaching Interpol to obtain a Red Corner Notice against Gurpatwant Singh Pannu of banned outfit Sikh for Justice.

Pannu is the main accused sunday event In which Khalistani banners were tied at the Himachal Assembly Gate in Dharamsala.

The police have also added Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) in the First Information Report (FIR) registered in the case on Sunday morning.

Earlier, a case was registered under sections 153-A, 153-B (promoting enmity between groups) of the Indian Penal Code and section 3 of the HP Open Space (Prevention of Deformation) Act, 1985.

Himachal Police has taken cognizance of a recorded message sent by Pannu to some residents in July 2021 and a journalist threatening to disrupt the August 15 program in the state.

The state police has got the voice spectrum analysis done in the forensic lab, on the basis of which the complaint has been registered.

Sources said the evidence would be presented before the Interpol to get the red corner notice.

To avoid any security hazard Khalistani elementsRound the clock surveillance of vehicles entering the state has been started since last night at various inter-state barriers in Solan and Sirmaur districts.

Being the gateway to the state capital Shimla, Solan Police has deputed armed personnel at various entry points in Parwanoo.

Officials said that all vehicles entering the state through all the four inter-state barriers are being checked for weapons, Khalistani flags and other incriminating material.

As per the guidelines issued by the Police Headquarters, patrolling has been increased at the barriers of Baddi, Barotiwala, Dhabota, Dhirowal and Bagheri and extra vigil is being maintained.
