Lahore: Pakistan’s Punjab Police has registered a case against ousted Prime Minister Imran Khan. KHAN and 150 others, including some members of his former cabinet, in connection with the Prime Minister’s hounding Shahbaz Sharif and his delegation to Masjid-e-Nabwi in Saudi Arabia, officials said.

The Punjab Police on Saturday night registered an FIR against Khan, who is also the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and 150 others including former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry and former advisor to Prime Minister Shahbaz Gul Sheikh Rashid. He said that on the complaint of a local resident Naeem Bhatti, a case has been registered at a police station in Faisalabad, about 180 km from Lahore, for desecrating the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina, committing hooliganism and hurting the sentiments of Muslims.
The FIR has been registered under various sections, including 295A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
According to the FIR, over 100 Khan’s supporters were deported from Pakistan and Britain to Saudi Arabia to carry out the mission to target Sharif and his delegation at Masjid-e-Nabwi in Medina. It said that Khan and other nominated leaders of PTI had given instructions to the party workers in this regard.
Meanwhile, Faisalabad police said that action will be taken against those named in the FIR as per law.
In a TV interview on Saturday, Khan distanced himself from pilgrims who raised slogans against Sharif, saying he “can’t even imagine asking anyone to raise slogans at the holy place”.
There is widespread condemnation of the incident.
