Kia Carens Price in India: Kia Carens launched in India, priced at Rs 8.99 lakh; Price, Variants, Features | – times of India

The much-awaited Kia Carense has been introduced in the Indian market, with starting prices of the petrol variant starting at Rs 8.99 lakh, while the diesel variant price starting from Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Kia started accepting bookings for the Carrence online and at dealerships early last month, with the booking amount set at Rs 25,000. The brand has revealed that it has received over 19,089 bookings for the Carrence so far.

The Kia Carens is essentially based on the Seltos and is looking to replicate the success the mid-size SUV has enjoyed here since it was first launched in 2019. Dimensionally, the Carens measures 4,540mm in length, 1,800mm and 1,700mm in width. Height and wheelbase is 2,780mm. Compared to the Seltos, the Carens is 225 mm longer and 80 mm longer, while the wheelbase is 160 mm longer.
Kia Carens: Exterior Design
The Carens sports a distinctive exterior design and styling. The front-end styling carries hints of the Kia Soul, while the flowing panel along the bonnet shut line that is joined by LED DRLs gives it an EV-like look. Up front, of course, is the signature Kia ‘tiger nose’ grille and it gets a piano black finish with textured effects. Apart from this, placed down on the bumper and divided by a thin chrome strip, there are full LED headlamps, and the fog lamps are also LED units.
At the rear, the integrated spoiler gets a high-mounted stop light and LED taillights, which are neatly spaced across the reflector unit, just above the boot lid.
Kia Carense: Variants and Color Options
The Carence will be available in five variants – Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury and Luxury Plus. The Cars will offer eight exterior colors which include Imperial Blue, Intense Red, Gravity Grey, Aurora Black, Glacier White, Clear White, Moss Brown and Sparkling Silver.
Kia Carence: Interior & Features
The cabin of the Carence follows a two-tone black and beige theme. The dashboard gets a silver V-shaped insert at the center while a similar treatment can be seen on the door pads as well. All the four AC vents have been smartly integrated with the chrome running along the width of the dashboard.
The Kia Carence has a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It is fast, easy to operate and offers a split-screen function. It also has a fully digital driver display with different themes and different information. There are all expected features like auto climate control, sunroof (not panoramic) and wireless phone charging. There’s also a great-sounding 8-speaker Bose audio system, 64-color ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, five USB Type-C charging ports, a perfume dispenser, and an air purifier that Kia says fights bacteria and bacteria with UVC. The virus gets rid of light and a HEPA filter.
Kia Carens: Engine and Transmission
The Kia Carens will be available with a choice of diesel and petrol engines. The entry-level can be ordered with a 115hp, 1.5-litre petrol engine while the 140hp, 1.4-litre, turbo-petrol engine will be available in the higher variants available. The Carens will also come with a 115hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine.
Gearbox options will include a six-speed manual transmission that will be standard on the 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. A seven-speed DCT gearbox will be available only with the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol.
Kia Carens: Safety Features
The safety package includes 6 airbags, ABS, ESC, HAC, VSM, DBC (Downhill Brake Control), BAS, all-wheel disc brake, TPMS Highline and rear parking sensors.
Kia Carens: Rivals
The Kia Carens will compete directly with the Hyundai Alcazar and MG Hector Plus, while other contenders in the higher sub-segment will include the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV 700 and the Toyota Innova Crysta.
