Kia has also released a set of images of the car wearing camouflage, while the EV9 was first previewed as a concept last year. Kia says the EV9 has been developed over a period of 44 months to set new benchmarks. The electric SUV is currently being tested at Kia’s global Namyang R&D center in Korea.
During this final testing phase, the EV9 is being tested for some off-road challenges on uphill and rough terrain tracks as well as deep water landings. Kia says the EV9 has also been “subject to a punitive testing regime in locations around the world.” The EV9 will be based on the same E-GMP electric platform as the EV6 from the brand, though the former will have a longer wheelbase.
Other technical specifications of the upcoming Kia EV9 are yet to be revealed. We expect Kia to reveal more details about the all-electric SUV closer to its launch. Considering that the company is calling the EV9 its flagship SUV, we don’t expect it to hit India anytime soon. Nonetheless, Kia recently launched the EV6 in India – bringing the car through the CBU route, with prices ranging from Rs 59.95 lakh to Rs 64.95 lakh (ex-showroom).
