One of the finest overseas stars to grace the Indian Premier League (IPL), Kieron Pollard The T20 league on Tuesday took a tough decision to call it a day, with the franchises supposed to release their ‘release and retention’ lists on the same day. Pollard, who was expected to be put back in the player pool by the franchise after a normal 2022 season, went a step further by deciding not to play in the league at all. In a statement released, Pollard explained why he decided to leave the T20 league.

Pollard, who remains an active cricketer outside the international arena, has no plans of calling off his sporting career anytime soon. In a statement, the former West Indies all-rounder revealed that he decided to quit the IPL because he did not want to play against the Mumbai Indians.

“It has not been the easiest decision as I will continue to play for a few more years but I understand that this incredible franchise that has achieved so much needs change and if I no longer play for MI, I will Can’t wait to play against MI. Pollard was signed by Mumbai Indians in 2010 and has not featured in the cash-rich league for any other franchise since then, having spent 13 illustrious seasons with the Mumbai-based franchise. He retired from his international career in April this year.

He will now serve as the batting coach for the franchise from the 2023 season.
