Kishan Reddy sought help from the Chief Minister for the operation of two medical institutions

Union Minister for Tourism, Culture and Development of North Eastern Region G. Kishan Reddy has urged Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to see that Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Adilabad, and Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal be taken under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana. PMSSY), are made operational at the earliest by recruiting adequate staff.

In a letter to the Chief Minister, Mr. Reddy said that the PMSSY initiated by the Vajpayee government envisages setting up of institutions like All India Institute of Medical Sciences and upgradation of government medical colleges to add 150-200 beds, new operations. Theatres, 8-10 super specialty departments and more than 15 new postgraduate seats.

Government funding of Rs 120 crore has been earmarked for enhancing the quality of healthcare to Warangal and Adilabad medical institutions. Despite the delay in getting the state share last year, the construction of both the institutions was completed by the central government.

Now, the minister requested the chief minister that both the institutions should have adequate staff and also release the arrears of the state’s share in the case of RGIMS, said a press release.
