KN Tripathi: Former Jharkhand minister stakes claim for Congress President’s post

Congress leader and former Jharkhand minister KN Tripathi filed his nomination for the National President of All India Congress Committee (AICC) in Delhi on Friday. Tripathi handed over the nomination papers to Madhusudan Mistry, chairman of the Congress’s Central Election Authority, at the AICC headquarters here.

KN Tripathi told ANI, “I am going to file nominations today. Our leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have said that every Congress worker can contest for this top post. They have held the positions of Prime Minister and party president. has given up.”

KN Tripathi left the Indian Air Force to join politics. He contested from Daltonganj assembly constituency for the first time in 2005 on Congress ticket but lost.

Asked if he was only doing asanas, the Congress leader said, “Why don’t you take me seriously?” Wait till the return date, he said whether he would continue in the field or not.

He won the 2009 assembly election and was made Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj and Labor Department in the Government of Jharkhand.

Tripathi served as the national president of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (Tripathi faction), affiliated with the Congress.

“I belong to a farmer family. The nation is watching that the son of a farmer who has the experience of serving with the Indian Air Force has been elected as a minister in the state government and deputy leader of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, also in AICC may contest for the post of the president,” KN Tripathi said.
