Kochi Metro commuters will get 50% discount on fares on October 2

Kochi Metro commuters will get 50% discount on train fares on October 2, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

Kochi-1 card holders will get cashback for the difference in the card amount. The free ticketing scheme for mentally challenged passengers and 50% discount for accompanying passengers will also come into effect from the same day.

The frequency of trains will also be increased from October 2. One additional train will be kept as standby to ensure physical distancing to meet the sudden increase in demand of passengers, if any.

In addition, Metro trains can now be identified by their ‘name’. Kochi Metro has taken this step in line with the pattern set by the trains of Indian Railways. “The names are in sync with the culture of our country and will aid passengers in quick and easy identification of trains,” a release from Kochi Metro Rail Limited said.

The Metro Agency honored Sunil PJ, Senior Civil Police Officer of City Traffic East Police Station, for showing tremendous courage in catching the python crawling in front of Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Metro Station. KMRL Managing Director Loknath Behera presented him with a citation and a cash prize.
