Kolkata: A person was injured when a large Krishnachura tree fell on two moving cars in Kolkata’s Salt Lake area on Wednesday afternoon.
Witnesses told that both the cars were going on the road when suddenly a tree uprooted and fell on them.
The vehicles were badly damaged and local people rushed to rescue the driver. He suffered injuries and was shifted to a nearby hospital.
The road was completely blocked as Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) workers later removed the tree from the spot.
Locals said that the tree was apparently in proper condition and there was no strong wind or storm coming when it fell.
BMC MMIC (Environment) Rahima BB Mandal said that they have formed a team and will soon start conducting a survey to check the present condition of all such big trees located on the roadside.
