The National People’s Party (NPP) has performed brilliantly in the Nagaland Assembly elections. Notes showered outside the house of party leader C Kipili Sangatam in the NPP nomination to celebrate victory in seven constituencies in the 60th parliamentary assembly. The NPP led by Conrad Sangma retained power in Aarey for the second time in Meghalaya. The party from Meghalaya has shown its might for the first time in Nagaland by winning a seven-way victory. In videos being shared on social media, the NPP scorers can be seen waving notes in the air while raising slogans and dancing.

In Nagaland, the BJP-NDPP alliance has crossed the majority mark by winning 37 constituencies. Shoonya Kumar’s JDU has taken the seat while Sharad Pawar’s NCP has seven seats in its account. Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Naga People’s Front and Republican Party of India (Athawale) have captured two constituencies each. Four seats have come in the names of independents. The 75-year-old Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has come to power for another term in Nagaland. Moyamantri on Friday elected Neiphiu Rio as the leader of the NDPP Legislature Party.
