Seoul:

A Korean Air Lines Co Ltd plane with 230 people on board was evacuated Friday morning after two live bullets were found before takeoff at South Korea’s Incheon International Airport.

According to police, the Manila-bound flight, which was originally scheduled to take off at 7:45 am (2245 GMT on Thursday), took off from Incheon at around 11 am (0200 GMT) after a security check.

Shortly before take-off on the jet with 218 passengers and 12 crew members, a passenger was found with a 9-millimeter bullet, forcing the plane to return to the terminal.

“We are probing how the bullets hit the plane,” a police officer said.

A Korean Air official said the airline was monitoring the results of the police investigation.

South Korea has strict gun laws, with illegal possession of a firearm punishable by up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to 100 million won ($75,300).
