Kovid-19: Shopkeepers, employees fully vaccinated in Central Delhi’s Janpath market

Both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been given to all shopkeepers and their employees in central Delhi’s popular Janpath market, making the shopping hub a “fully immunized” market, officials said on Friday.

District officials distributed certificates of “fully immunized markets” to its eight market associations.

A senior official said, “Janpath Market has been declared a fully vaccinated market with 280 shops and 300 vendors and tehbazaris. All the eight market associations of Janpath Market have been issued a certificate of full immunization by the district administration. Was.”

Chanakyapuri Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) on Thursday distributed certificates of “fully immunized market” to five market associations of the popular Sarojini Nagar market.

A senior New Delhi district official said that all market associations have been told that any newly joining staff member will also have to be fully vaccinated.

The heads of market associations have also taken oath to ensure this, the official said.

Delhi reported 24,383 Covid-19 cases and 34 deaths on Friday, while the positivity rate rose to 30.64 per cent, according to health department data.

Though the number of new cases was less as compared to Thursday, the positivity rate increased.

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has ordered all shop owners to strictly adhere to the COVID-safety norms amid rising cases in the city, which is driven by the Omicron version of the coronavirus.

Shops, establishments and offices in markets have been asked to display signboards encouraging people to wear masks, follow social distancing and use sanitisers.
