The KTM 390 Adventure Rally gets notable off-road specific upgrades as compared to the standard version

A new off-road exclusive version of KTM 390 Adventure appears to be in the works, according to a new set of spy shots that have recently surfaced online. Dubbed as the KTM 390 Adventure Rally, the test mule was spotted in India and shows several changes on the motorcycle that make it more off-road friendly. It also appears close to KTM’s Dakar machine. Though the details on the exact set of changes are kept a secret for the time being.

KTM recently revealed the 2022 390 Adventure

The KTM 390 Adventure is covered in rally trial mule camouflage. However, you notice that the headlamp assembly is raised up like the KTM Dakar bike. There is also a taller windscreen and a larger front cowl, while the TFT instrument console is now placed above and within the rider’s peripheral vision. The handlebar is also placed high and it feels closer to the rider. The bike is also expected to get knobby tyres, unlike the dual-purpose rubber on the Rally variant. The test mule however rides on alloy wheels unlike the spoked units which some might have hoped for on the rally version.

Other parts of the cycle look similar to the KTM 390 Adventure Rally. It is powered by a 373.2 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that makes 42.3 bhp and 37 Nm of peak torque. The suspension and braking system is also likely to be carried forward while the chassis will also remain unchanged.

The cast alloy wheels of the 2022 KTM 390 Adventure have been strengthened for better durability.

There is no clarity on when KTM plans to bring the 390 Adventure Rally to market, but we expect to see it sometime next year. The model will be more aimed at those who want to indulge in some off-roading fun on the 390 ADV, which in its current guise comes with limitations. If and when KTM decides to launch the Rally variant in India, expect the prices to command a premium over the standard model. Currently, the price of KTM 390 Adventure is Rs.3.28 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
