Kushinagar airport launched: Government plans to set up 17 airports in UP: Scindia

After Uttar Pradesh got its third international airport with the launch of Kushinagar airport, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that the Center is planning to set up 17 more airports soon.

During the inauguration of the Kushinagar International Airport, Scindia said, “Under the vision and guidance of the Prime Minister, we have successfully established the Kushinagar International Airport. This is the ninth airport in Uttar Pradesh and the government plans to establish 17 more airports. state in the near future”.

Further, Scindia said that “In the first 70 years of India’s independence, there were only 74 airports in the country. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government successfully inaugurated 54 airports in the last seven years of his rule in the country. Is” .

He said that till date 128 airports have been established in the country.

Scindia said that the Center has decided to operate direct flights from Delhi airport to Delhi. Kushinagar Airport four times a week. These operations will start from November 26. We will also be connecting directly to Kolkata and Mumbai airports soon.

On the other hand, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath informed that work is going on on 11 new airports including two international airports in the state.

Adityanath said that work is also going on for Ayodhya airport and air connectivity is getting strengthened in the state, which will give impetus to the development.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Kushinagar airport at around 10 am today. Kushinagar is the final resting place of Gautam Buddha where he attained Mahaparinirvana after his death and is one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Buddhists. The new airport to be built at an estimated cost of 260 crore is spread over 3,600 square meters. It has been developed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) in collaboration with the Government of Uttar Pradesh. The new terminal can handle 300 passengers during peak hours.

According to the aviation ministry, the airport will help in attracting more followers of Buddhism from home and abroad to Kushinagar and enhance the development of Buddhist theme-based circuits.
