“The families of the victims are yet to get justice,” said Mr. Tikait.

The BKU leader blamed the state government for the delay in justice.

“The ruling government does not believe in neither the legal system nor the Constitution and abuses its power,” alleged Mr. Tikait.

Asked about the future course of action, Mr. Tikait said, “People can only raise their voice and the rest is up to the government.”

Referring to the three-day protest by the United Kisan Morcha (SKM) here in August over delay in justice in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case, Mr. Tikait said that over 50,000 farmers came together and put forth their demands. He was assured that the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh or the officials concerned would talk to him, but nothing happened.

“In fact, even the officials are helpless as the whole system runs from Delhi, which directs to Lucknow,” claimed Mr. Tikait.
